The term Kamikaze was adopted by our JukuCho to represent the spirit of this gym. To put everything you have into it. To have enough fuel to get you there, but not enough to return. Like the kamikaze pilots of old, committed only to one purpose. We are the oldest kickboxing clubs on Okinawa.

All of us volunteer our time, resources, and energy to this dojo. We are a family here. We work together, train together, fight together, and hang out together. We make each other stronger. - Kamikaze Juku

Okinawa Japan, MMA and Kickboxing Update 9/16

Sunday was the Mononofu event at Koza Music town. We had Sean our lead kickboxing instructor up against the lightweight champion from Tenkaichi. This isn't the first time these two have played the game together. However it was a very different and unexpected outcome than before. The first time they danced Sean was playing cat and mouse, and to a point it looked like this was going to be a carbon copy of before. However THIS time as Sean was coming out of a low kick Yuma jumped in with a right jab and connected. At first I thought it was a slip and so did the corner crew, then I figured well maybe it was a flash knockdown. However the punch landed in the right place and Sean didn't make the count. Everyone was surprised and to a point I think that included Yuma too. Sean for the first time in his career had received a KO. Sean's previous opponent lost with a broken nose, his opponent before that lost with a dislocated elbo. Sean for the most part is a mercenary, cold efficient and methodical inside the ring. So to accomplish what Yuma did yesterday he deserves a lot of credit, he's earned it. Congratulations and best of luck to him.
