The term Kamikaze was adopted by our JukuCho to represent the spirit of this gym. To put everything you have into it. To have enough fuel to get you there, but not enough to return. Like the kamikaze pilots of old, committed only to one purpose. We are the oldest kickboxing clubs on Okinawa.

All of us volunteer our time, resources, and energy to this dojo. We are a family here. We work together, train together, fight together, and hang out together. We make each other stronger. - Kamikaze Juku

Okinawa Japan, Kickboxing and MMA Update: 10/29/2013

So we had two revenge matches on Sunday night at the Ishikawa Bull Arena. Initially we were supposed to have three fighters entered in, the two rematches and also a debut match. However due a flaming hoop or two required to jump through by military command we had to postpone the debut.

This is not an outright criticism, Commanders have responsibilities over their subordinates and a part of that is making sure they are not participating in brawls thinly veiled as an "event"... This in turn had led to a minor quest to possibly garner military sponsorship. A sanctioned event would make it easier for all military personnel to participate. If you have some good contact info feel free to drop me an Email.

So our first fighter was Mike going against the opponent he beat last time. The match went pretty well the first two rounds and eventually went to an overtime round. Mike's opponent learning from previous mistakes decided to tie Mike up as much as possible. This prevented him from making any real clean shots BUT it also stopped Mike from landing any real clean shots. This is actually pretty important because Mike is a decent striker and if he gets a good hook in, there is a good chance the fight will be over. All in all this strategy seemed to have payed off because the final decision was in favor of the challenger. To be fair the decision could have went either way and understand the judges decision.

The final fight of the night and Main Event was our fighter Ryuichi against former champion Satoshi. The last time these two went at it Satoshi edged out a narrow decision in an overtime round...(I still think he should have won that fight) However there was no decision to be made in this bout. Ryuichi not to be caught twice chose to take the decision out of the judges hands. I'm not going to sell the match short, watch the video, get motivated, get involved! In the meantime see you at the gym! OSU
